A Unified description of final state and initial state interactions in heavy ion collisions
We calculate the classical gluon field of a fast projectile passing through a dense medium. We show that this allows us to calculate both the initial state gluon production in proton-nucleus collisions and the final state gluon radiation off a hard parton produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions. This unified description of these two phenomena makes the relation between the saturation scale Qs an...
متن کاملDirect Photons from Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions
Direct photons have been proposed as a promising signature for the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) formation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Recently WA98 presented the first data on direct photons in Pb+Pb-collisions at SPS. At the same time RHIC started with its experimental program. The discovery of the QGP in these experiments relies on a comparison of data with theoretical predictions for Q...
متن کاملPartonic Equation of State in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
The goal of the RHIC and the future LHC programs is to identify and study the matter with partonic degrees of freedom and determine the phase structure of the QCD phase diagram [1, 2]. In high-energy nuclear collisions, due to large initial density and frequent re-scatterings, collective motion develop [3]. Depends on both the duration and the strength of the frequent scatterings, local thermal...
متن کاملInitial State Energy Loss Dependence of J/Ψ and Drell-Yan in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
We present a Glauber-based study of J/Ψ and Drell-Yan yields in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Using this approach, we have investigated the impact of energy loss by the colliding nuclei on observed yields and transverse momentum spectra of J/Ψ and Drell-Yan. These studies permit an assessment of the importance of initial state energy loss in relation to “anomalous” J/Ψ suppression.
